These Multi-Media websites and online Television channel were created to serve as a news, information and organizational resource for todays senior citizens. At over 75 million plus the baby boom generation represents one of the largest voting groups in the country. Yet the gains made by our parents and grandparents in the 60s have not been maintained because of our failure to organize and fight for the rights of our common interests. These websites use the best of todays communication technologies enabling everyone with access to a computer to share their voice and become part of the process that is directing our generations future.
The Interactive features of our websites allows concerned citizens from all over the country to share their opinions, identify the common issues and work to create the solutions we need to meet the challenges of the day.

The Oregon Nation website,
http://www.oregonnation.org
This is our multi-media news website that we use to present indepth reports and feature stories that become the subjects of our forum programs wercast on the Boomer Nation Live show on the Boomer Nation Internet TV channel. The magazines sections take the national and regional news and events and reports on how they impact the residents of rural

Oregon. Though the reports originate in Oregon they have something in common with rural communities all over America.

In spite of the numbers elected officials, politicians and special interests such as Wall Street and the multi-national banks call for the end of social security, medicare and social programs built with taxes withheld from worker pay checks for generations. It's an insult to older Americans when a senator or congressman refers to social security as an entitlement when the trust fund created and maintained with individual taxpayer contributions. Every pay day workers across the country entrust the federal government a percentage of their wages to provide a modest income for that time in life we call retirement.
From it's start until the trust until the 1980s the system worked fine for average worker. Then the politicians in Washington decided to replace the cash in the social security trust with IOUs in the form of U S Treasury Bonds. In the mean time Wall Street looted the fixed pension funds of millions of workers and lobbied to replace the conservative secure pension system with the IRA. The Individual Retirement Account.

In his third year serving on the North West Disability Adivisory Council ( which works closely and meets monthly with the North West Senior Advisory Council) Community Public Broadcasting CEO, Jeffrey Stevens, saw a big need for the communication resources that had played a major role in the health care initiatives Oregon had pioneered during the first term of the Clinton administration. Management of the Senior and Disability Services was being transfered from the Department of Human Services to local agencies with the goal of adapting services to meet the needs of the individual communities they served. The advisory councils had been established by the state legislarure to provide an active role for clients in the decision making process and monitor quality in the new community based service models.
This was a very unique time that empowered the senior and disabled residents of Oregon to work together, establishing common goals and strategies that not only cut costs but also improved overall program benefits. "Clients and staff from all over the state would meet every 4 months in Eugene and spend 3 days working to make the state and federal programs more effective to meet the client needs. These were pilot programs so problem solving was an ongoing process and creating solutions was a team effort. But the work paid off big time and by the end of the second year we saw client satisfaction go way up while cutting cost of delivering services an average of 33%" recalls Stevens.
The state conferences not only increased client involvement but also shared the different challenges presented by the types of service areas throughout Oregon. Programs like Meals on Wheels had a management model that worked great in large cities but needed to be reworked when applied to rural areas of the state. The
local transportation systems and weather were factors to be considered and this was just one program out of many that needed to be addressed to cut costs.
